Today BrowseWorks joined the Twitter wagon and now you can follow what we are up to.
For those who don't know what it is, "Twitter is a free social messaging utility for staying connected in real-time." as defined by Twitter itself.
I know that that the word "social" is so overused nowadays when talking about connecting on the Internet. However, as it turns out, more and more companies are using Twitter to keep in touch with their followers. The way it works is that you post short updates (less than 140 characters) on what you are up to, and anyone who has added your company to their follow list will see this message.
How do people follow you? You can have twitter "follow" links on your website, you can follow other people (in turn, Twitter offers them to follow you, too), and you can have your Twitter link sent in your regular mailings to clients. Oh, and another great place to have a Twitter link is in your email signature.
In brief, Twitter is a great supplement to your online marketing department whether you have one, or the department is you. And it will take no more than a minute of your day. It is a free and easy way to create buzz and promote your services.
I believe that every company should pay serious attention to social marketing, especially in the current economic crisis.
I will not get into more details on describing Twitter and how you can benefit from it, as it has been said many times before. Instead, here are two blog entries that will give you the background:
